I bought the emprex nsd-100. (i posted it in general pc section).

seemingly you can put Debian on it instead of the included software.
Emprex P2P Download Engine NSD-100: Useful information about Hacking, installing Debain for STR9104 (http://emprex-nas.blogspot.com/2008/10/useful-information-about-hacking.html)

I'm not a linux user and need to know how easy is Debian to use and is there a usenet client avail for it. Also if debian was put on it would then netowrk attached windows machines be able to see the hd attached to the device?

If you're set on using a debian like system, use Ubuntu, it has much better hardware support and community support! But I would recommend using something like Fedora, it's been around for so long it supports pretty much everything and any program that has a Linux version should be compatible :)
