ITV's long-delayed timeshift channel of ITV1 will launch in early January, it has been announced.

According to audience measurement body BARB, ITV1+1 will commence broadcasting on all digital TV platforms on January 11, 2011.

The channel will enable viewers to watch shows such as Coronation Street, The X Factor and Emmerdale one hour after their scheduled start time.

In August, ITV confirmed that ITV1+1 would finally become available in the first quarter of next year, after first unveiling the channel way back in September 2009.

At the time, the broadcaster opted to delay ITV1+1 "until further notice", amidst reported concerns about the short-term economic viability of the timeshift channel.

Its about time!
Though I must say that after a slow start with the availability of HD channels compared to the BBC, they now lead with ITV1, 2, 3, and 4 all now being broadcast in HD, while the BBC have only BBC HD and BBC1 HD.
Time for them to play catchup with their other channels now. :please:
