My daughter has just brought an hd camcorder and it takes either an sd,sdhc or and sdxc card. What i would like to know is other than the speed what if any is the differance and would she see a differance between say an sd and a sdhc card?the sdxc cards in the size she is looking at are expensive, a 8gb sd card will give her aprox 1 hour recording, thanks for looking

Secure Digital (SD) is a non-volatile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-volatile_memory) memory card (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_card) format developed by Panasonic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matsu****a_Electric_Industrial_Co.), SanDisk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SanDisk), and Toshiba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toshiba) for use in portable devices. It is widely used in digital cameras (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_cameras), digital camcorders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camcorder#Modern_recording_media), handheld computers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_device), netbook computers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netbooks), PDAs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_digital_assistant), media players (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Media_Player), mobile phones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone), GPS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Positioning_System) receivers, and video game consoles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_console). Standard SD cards have an official maximum capacity of 2 GB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte), though technically they can store up to 4 GB.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#cite_note-sdcard_org_dev_sd-0) SDHC (High-capacity) cards have a maximum capacity of 32 GB. SDXC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#SDXC) (eXtended Capacity) allows for up to 2 TB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terabyte) cards.
