anyone ? its all wired up and all that, so i wouldnt like to pull it all out, its all in a special built in thingy, strip it open and then find that the drives wont do the job, know what i mean ?

How do you format them ? i know how to format a drive but wondering if its done in the sky or duo box ??

as far as i know mate, the Sky+ boxes use IDE drives, and the Sky+HD boxes are SATA. so it depends what sky box you have

Unless you have the new 1terrabyte Sly + box I wouldn't bother personally?
A 500gb hdd fills up in no time recording Hi Def.
1 terrabyte drives are much cheaper now, so I would go for one of them.
Bigger 1.5 terrabyte if it will fit in a VU+ Duo?

thatnks mate, need to open it then someday and have a look, cheers.

either that or better still, maybe someone might know what model number has the drives that will fit the duo, that would be very handy info :)

Don't the Sly+ boxes have only 160Gb hdds? I know mine only had 160Gb on it. I've done exactly that... moved the Sly+ hdd to the VU+ duo... I don't record much, but for the occasional must-watch serial/movie, the 160Gb's good enough... but then, I delete stuff after watching it right away, perhaps thats why it never fills up!
