The iPhone 4 will cost ?499 for the 16GB version and ?599 for the 32GB version in the UK, without committing to a contract with a mobile operator.
The SIM-free iPhone 4 is available for pre-order from the Apple website from today, with the handset arriving 24 June. The iPhone 4 uses a micro SIM rather than a standard one, so most customers will have to invest in a new SIM card too.
Apple said the white version of the iPhone 4 will not be available at pre-order in the UK or the US, but didn't explain why, so those looking to order now will have to settle for the black edition.
