The way you said you were knocked off your bike implies that it was someone else's fault m8! in which case get onto one of them claim for injury companies and you will get compensation for your injury AND loss of earnings

In fact choose the right one AND you might just make a mint out of it! Don't sit on yer arse hget phoning and make some money (PS give me some for my sterling advice! ;-) )

like you said i can claim for loss of earnings but iv still got to pay the bills while its getting sorted (maybe 12 months).

You may be able to claim incapacity benifit. Talk to your solicitor/cab/dss office to see if you're elegable.

However you manage to foot the bills m8..you might even need to take out a loan! keep records of everything and the reasons for it so that when it comes to the claim you are putting it all in. also contact the Tax folk as you will be due some tax back...mind you the new tax year only started in April so maybe not! :-(

Watch what you're doing m8 If you go on to make it worse they wont pay you for that and the longer you're off sick...the better the payout will be in the end.. take it easy! you don't want to give yourself a more serious injury which could end up giving you a permanent limp!
