I have had a Sony HT-SF100 Home Theatre System for a few months now, incidently it is an excellent system, but I have come up with a problem.
Today I decided to add a record turntable to my system, but I cannot get it to work. When I connect it up, and play a record, the volume is very, very low. In fact I can only just hear it with the volume turned up to the maximum. The turntable is an AKAI, getting on a bit now, part of a disused Hi-Fi system, but it is the only one I have at hand.
I think I may need a pre-amp, or is there another solution?
If I do need a pre-amp, any suggestions re the best, and affordable one. Thanks.

To play from vinyl records, you will need a (pre-)amplifier connected in between the turntable and the amp. The signal strength of the turntable output is too weak to be connected straight to the amp hope this helps

Thanks thelostone for the reply.

You have confirmed what I suspected.
