Electronic Arts has announced that Battlefield 1943 becomes the fastest title to reach the 1 million plateau on Xbox Live Arcade.

Released way back in July last year, the critically acclaimed downloadable first-person shooter has won many fans because of it's signature gameplay and classic WWII Battlefield maps using the DICE Frostbite engine that allows players to wreak havoc and destruction via land, sea and air. Gordon Van Dyke, producer of Battlefield 1943, said in a statement:

The reception of Battlefield 1943 continues to amaze us, even months after the game was released. Being the fastest game to reach this milestone is an incredible achievement. The game has set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category. It?s fantastic to see how gamers have recognized the value that the game delivers for just $15. It is another great entry point into the Battlefield franchise.

Priced at US$ 15 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, EA promises that the PC version of the game will be released soon.

How unusual for a down loadable game to be on consoles first, then to take so long to come to the pc. You would expect a release of this nature to be first tested on the pc as it's natural environment?
The good thing about that is it should hopefully lead to more, cheaper, downloadable games on ALL platforms in the future.

Its only a small game on the pc so at a guess the pc version will be bigger or they will have to charge a small price for it as there are only 4 maps on the 360 version
