Hi

I am sorting out my mother-in-laws computer. I have done everything I needed but it is running very slow. I noticed on boot up it says on screen Memory Clock is 166. The memory stick is a kingston pc3200 512mb. My question is surely this should say a frequency of 400. The motherboard auto detects this in bios and cannot be set manually. Am i right in what I am saying and if so any suggestions on what is wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
not sure about the frequency bit but my computer ran really slow once and it turned out that L1 cache was disabled in bios settings

Make sure L1 and L2 are enabled

i have no idea how this happened to my computer

It doesn't matter that the ddr is rated @400 if your mobo won't go that high. Running @166 using ddr means that the actual speed is @333.

Please give the following info:-
What mobo?
What cpu?
What hdd?
Onboard graphics?
Clean install?
What os?
Where does it run slow? e.g. boot up, apps, internet?
