The latest spate of the Rick Astley worm (and others based on it) have been plaguing us iPhone users for a couple of weeks now.

When we jailbreak our iPhones, we inadvertently set the SSH password to 'alpine'.

Some @rse, in his unending wisdom, decided to teach us all a wonderful lesson in making our passwords unique. He designed a worm which would use the default 'alpine' password to login to your iPhone via SSH on the superuser, install itself on the iPhone and change the wallpaper with Rick Astley. Once done, no matter what you do, you'll not be able to change it back. Well, not unless reinstall the firmware.

Anyway, the solution is simple. All you need to do is to change your SSH password by following the instructions below:

Install MobileTerminal & launch it

Cydia > Sections > Terminal Support > MobileTerminal
Press Install > Confirm to install the app
Once installed, press "Return to Cydia" or "Close Window"
Press Home button
You should now see an icon called Terminal
Press to launch it

At the prompt, type su, and press the return key
You will then be asked to enter the current root user password. Type "alpine" and press Enter
Once into the user, type "passwd" and press Enter
You will now be prompted to enter a new password. Choose a new unique password of your own and enter it, then press enter. You'll be asked to re-type the password. Do it and press enter.

That's it, you're done. Close the app and go back to your Home screen.

All the best.
