there are no keyboard drivers as such, they are part of the os.

cold boot the lappy and holddown a key from 1st power [try f8 or if it indicates a f key to get into the bios try that one]

should start beeping at you.

as for the desktop, is this usb or ps2?

desktop is ps2 not usb (so should reckonise it straight away) surely there should be something in device manager that says keyboard and also in controll panell click the keyboard icon then the hardware tab and nothing no os drivers in there

Or try a repair file with "sfc /scannow" in cmd without the quotes ;)

yes they are in there, but no keyboard listed in device manager. the mouse pad works fine untill u press akey on the keyboard then it freezes and u have to turn netbook off (but i think this is down to no keyboard driver insatalled)

direct memory access

run the addharware wizard
then select keyboard from the list if it does not show
when it asks for drivers pop in your windows disc

You could try resetting ESCD or Extended System Configuration Data.
Go into the BIOS and look under PNP/PCI Configuration.
Then go to Reset Configuration Data and set to Enabled.
Save and restart.

This should update or reconfigure settings such as IRQ,DMA and I/O
addresses related to your hardware and resolve any conflicts.
