ok my girlfriends eldest son has a xbox 360 and wants to go on live.

Now she has a bt homehub and wireless access from a pc a few metres away, now they dont want to spend ?60 to get this xbox live adaptor and then have it not work cos there is loads of posts about live and homehubs not working together.

the xbox is the other end of the house from the home hub and the reception is patchy at the pc in the middle so i doubt he is gonna get good wireless reception anyway

Being wired isnt an option as g/f wont have that.

can we put a small pc connected to the internet in the boys bedroom and plug a cable from that into the xbox360 to give it internet that way and save the 60 quid for the adaptor, we already have the pc spare

any thoughts?

maybe a wirless extender will increase the range of the home hub.

but honestly i would consider using a bit of cat5 around the house and setting up a hard wire network. this will always add value to your house if you own it. and also make things alot secure in the long run.

Yes you can just put another nic card in the pc and then run a cable from the pc to the 360 and then share the internet connection through the pc. I know this works as i had the exact same set up on mine part from the wireless part.

or what about those plug things? the ones that use your electrical network to move the internet across, never used them myself, but a few friends have and they say they are quite good

aah i get you.

she is trying to do it the cheapest way possible for her lad as we already have the second pc he can have in his room.

so it will go homehub/wireless/boyspc/cable to xbox and hopefully that will work
