View Full Version : Problems installing ubuntu !!

Hi all i am trying to instal ubuntu onto a desktop as a straight install just the ubuntu, and im getting the busybox v1.1.3(debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) built in shell (ash) Enter help for a list of built in commands

this is as far as i seem to getting tried commands etc no joy..

any help would be great

ubuntu is installed m8 . but not the version with a gui (graphic user interface)

type in
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

that should install the desktop for you.

hi nj thanks for the reply, i have just typed in what you said and i get this messege /bin/sh: sudo-get: not found?

thats from the iso 1 the number 2 iso i used gets to cant find cd rom ??




(1) ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386.iso is the one that comes up with busybox1.1.3

(2)ubuntu-8.04.1-alternate-i386 got furthest but failed on cd-rom drivers after loading keyboard layout

Hi lil update i managed to install ubuntu on pc now (MOBO was knached) everything seems to be running sweet now new mobo installed but the problem is installing the nvidia ge force 6200 driver .... can any one help me please or point me in the direction i need to be heading :-)
