* It auto-finds the bl39 and bl46 files better, if they?re on your computer
* It creates the ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support/ folder if not present, which should help with some 1600 errors people have been having.
* Many people have reported the PwnageTool not starting up at all (the icon never stops bouncing). This issue should be resolved now.
* The Sparkle AppCast URL is fixed in this version, so automatic updates should work for future releases.

iClarified has posted a splendid tutorial to jailbreak/unlock the 2.0 Firmware on the iPhone/iTouch using the PwnageTool... LINK HERE (http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1557).

The DevTeam have also released xpwn 0.3 as a command-line tool, aimed at the developers, for Windows XP/Vista & Linux. Link to xpwn HERE (http://github.com/planetbeing/xpwn/tree/master).

Now even non-mac users can upgrade to 2.0 and unlock now :).

PS: Remember, only the iPhone can be unlocked once upgraded to 2.0. The iPhone 3g can only be jailbroken (i.e. you can use O2 non-iPhone tarriffs/pay-as-you-go tarriffs).

Hopefully an unlock solution for the iPhone 3g can't be too far away. I really fancy a 3g one but am 6 months into an 18 month contract with Vodafone :38:

I think we're still a fair way from a fully safe unlock. The iDT have been playing about with options though.

Having said that, the 3g is available on PAYG with 1 year's internet browsing free. So, why not go for that. Unless of course, you want to stay with Vodafone or want loads of calling minutes.

We're actually getting more apps which are inherently internet based. So, intenert connectivity has now become a neccessity.

If you unlock the phone and use your own SIMM card, chances are you'll end up paying more for a tarriff similar to O2's iPhone tarriffs in order to have calls/texts/internet. Add to this, the fact that you'll buy the phone for at least ?350... Not a very feasible option, I'd say.

The 3g is a great option for someone who doesn't have/care about internet apps OR wants to stay on an O2 PAYG tarriff. The 2g was and is still a great way to have the iPhone and make it work on another SIMM card. The fact that Apple have made it impossible to have the iPhone without a contract is just plain unfair :( .
