I have a subbed box which is having difficulty getting on demand at the moment, There has been work done at the cab this week and it has given a connection error since then (something about SEAC). is this because i have other boxes or is it a mistake on their part?

First I would take the other boxes of and check to see that your sub is working ok then put the other's on and see how it go's could be a sig prob as you have a couple of boxes on the one cable.I dont know what seac means so I wont try to say i do but give that a go if you havent yet

my other boxes were off at the time of checking. I was wondering whether the engineer could see DB levels at the cab and installed something to get us to ring up and complain. As a measure to tell cc who is using more than they should be?

I would ring them they might still be doing work you never know or your sub box could be playing up,they have to see the other boxes m8 so just put them away
