It depends. If you still use some old 16 bit software then no. If you can find the correct drivers for printers etc and the software you do use is 64 bit then yes.

If I had not needed 64 bit for work reasons, I would have stuck with 32.

If going 64bit at least consider Vista.

Its not to everyones taste, but it just takes some getting used to.

I've tried both XP x64 & Vista x64, found I had less software / driver issues with Vista than XP.

I'm currently using xp 64bit and accept for a few programs not supporting it I have had no problems at all.
I was usng Vista 64 for a good while any I find it very bloated compared to XP 64 it needs alot more memory and a good spec computer to get the best out of it !!
If you read the comparisons between 32 and 64 bit systems there is very little differnce performance wise so xp 32 would overall be a better choice and more compatible.

Like already said, unless you need it then dont bother imo. Like anything else including bios, it it works ok now dont change it.

Dont bother with 64 unless you have at minimum a GB of decent ram and a nice system,i have tried XP,VISTA 32 and VISTA 64.

XP was better for me but i feel i need to go to vista as theres not much time left for XP and updates.

VISTA 32 my preffered choice as of now and im getting use to it.

VISTA 64 could never find drivers as mentioned or a decent firewall for that matter and to compound it it made my system sluggish.

XP is being supported by Microsoft until 2014 so no mad rush to move away from it IMO.

Tried to post link to relevant article but it wont have it. Google xp support until 2014 and you should find information.
