Hey, does anyone know whether Plasmas are made with 1080p screens; I've seen 1080p input but not display. Your input appreciated.

Inputs aren't 1080i or 1080p... the sources are... i.e. sources like a DVD-player/PS3/etc which are capable of sending a video signal of upto 1080i/1080p/etc to a screen. And, you'll also get screens capable of displaying upto 1080i/1080p/etc.

A plasma screen with a 1080p written on it would mean that it is capable of displaying a resolution of upto 1080p. In order to display true 1080p (or any resolution, for that matter), you'll need both, the source AND the display to conform to that resolution - i.e. 1080i/1080p/etc.

Hope I've answered/addressed your query/dilemma.

it will always say on the plama if it is 1080p as having it pushes up the price.

If it says in the blurb that it has 1920x1080 pixels, that's a good sign.

Example: the Panasonic plasmas with a Z in their model number; if the Z is followed by an 8, that means it's the latest generation.

To be honest, I don't see how Panasonic can advertise their X80 brand plasmas as 1080p when they only have 1024x768 pixels.
