Try using nero click recorder and burn image then point it to the image file.

If they are iso files or cue and bin files extract them from the rar file the use a burning program like nero to burn the iso or cue and bin files to disk

Maybe you just downloaded a bad or a corrupted image on your second game?
Get a program called IMGBurn and set your downloaded image to open with that by default. Next time you should just need to double click on it and it will load into the burning software and the jobs a good un. That works with pc games as well by the way.

I can't see anything your doing wrong m8. Normally it is written using the RAW format rather than DAO, but I just looked at my settings and I cant see where you can change the format to RAW in IMGBurn? The only thing I can think of is it's either a bad image, but then it wouldn't normally verify, or it has something to do with the cmc mag dye used on the disk. I would try a Ritek GO5 brand disk. After that I don't know what to suggest.
I must admit it's been a while since I did a PS2 disk but I have done quite a few in the past and problems were rare, though they did happen sometimes. Can you get a retail copy, either borrow or from Blockbusters and clone the disk? That might solve your problem. :-?
