Hi all,

I've been looking around tinternet for last few hours about how to upgrade the hard drive on the Humax 9200. I've seen quite a lot of articles on what drives are recommended, but I can't find any instructions as to how to actually carry out the upgrade. I'm assuming that this means it is actually a straightforward swap, but is this right? I mean should I back up any files/transfer any files or anything else?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Snoops.

Not really sure, but here an upgrade kit i've found Humax PVR-9200T Hard Drive Upgrade Kit - 250GB from XtendedPlay (http://www.xtendedplay.co.uk/humax-pvr9200t-hard-drive-upgrade-kit-250gb-prodid-104.html?osCsid=938c90d0378472624d39dd50894dbf0d)

From what I've read it's the same process as changing a computer HDD. Check to see if the jumper on the existing HDD is slave or master than setup the new HDD to that setting. Once you've done just just plug it in and the 9200 should recognise the drive and format it for you so it's ready to go.

I believe the 9200 can take up to 500GB now

I think you have to set the HDD to cable select & not slave or master. Check what the current HDD is set to .

I think your probably right. I have a 9200T but never changed the drive from the stock 160gb it came with. I have done a couple of other pvr's though and they were all plugin IDE drives with the jumper set to cs. As you say the machine will format the drive to it's needs. So if its wrong it shouldn't boot, so just change the jumper before you put the lid back on. No reason why it would be wrong though as it will be a stand alone drive with nothing else to connect to.
