Where are all the MAC users, i cant believe we are that out numbered.

I have been using Windows since like the beginning, but when Vista came out, I could not stand it. so damn slow, unless you have the fastest PC on the market. So I got a mac to try, they are brilliant, admittedly the software isnt as freely available, but they are so reliable!. I cant believe there arent more mac users here

For the sake of nostalgia (and because I cant remember seeing this thread before), I will tell you that I am now using win7 x64.
In my opinion the best and fastest OS Microshaft have yet produced.
It's a tuned up version of Vista, which was a rushed and faulty release.
So long as you have the hardware to run it to it's full potential.

cant agree with you diablo my friend, i have tried 7 ultimate 64bit a few times and always ended up going back to vista64bit, and you know that i have hardware way more than capable of running it.

I dont think its really that much of a great operating system at all, dont get me wrong, its been a few months since i last tried it, because when i last tried it sometime after its official release i found it just wasnt that good, made my computer take longer to boot up and everything, plus that damn taskbar preview window thing that wont turn off, lol, i hate that, dont they have an on and off option for that yet ?

Also, just like vista at the start, windows 7 from what i'm still reading on various websites still has a lot of issues with a lot of hardware and drivers, thats another reason why i put it on hold for a while, i will get round to installing it again when i'm ready, but not for now, not worth the hassle if you have a good system and vista 64bit currently running, they use basically the same system spec and everything, so not a biggy, not for me anyway.

Infact, i helped someone the other day, they installed the basic version of 7 on thier pc and it was running like crap, so i suggested try using vista home basic instead, and yes, what a difference, ran much better.

so i guess its just down to how it actually likes and performs on different parts of hardware, not always necessarily that the system has to be at the recommended spec or above to run it.

thats what i find with it anyway, maybe my next install of it i will find that its running a whole lot better on my system as i would hope microsoft would have had loads of updates since the last time i tried it, we shall see, the saga continues, LOL :lol3:

i will give it another try sometimes soon, as i say, it was crap for me when i tried it last year and at that point in time i rated it a lot lower than vista ultimate 64bit, and since then i havent tried it again, so if microsoft have done lots of good updates since then then i would expect it to be better now, i would hope so, lol, i will try it sometime soon when i feel like messing about. no rush.

Apart from the normal updates and compatability patches that you get with any new system , I really don't think it has changed that much at all since you tried it back in October thomson.
I find the system good for me and the interactive taskbar quite useful sometimes. It has a minor annoyance of closing some windows to the task bar when I am moving them around, but I can live with that.
If you didn't like it before m8, you won't like it any more now. If you don't think you will stick with it and get used to it, then don't bother re installing and trying it again. Save yourself the hassle if you don't like it!
I haven't liked bread and butter pudding since I was a kid, that's a long time ago and if someone served that up to me today they would still be wearing my puke!
Some dislikes NEVER change!

lol, ye true mate, lol, thats why ive postponed it for ages, i realise i will have to take the plunge at some point again, maybe next time i have some problems with the pc and feel like formatting the drive, i might give it a go then and see if i'm ready to eat the bread n butter pudding yer, LOL:-O

I've been playing with Linux for a wee while now.
Back in the day I had to rebuild my laptop, didn't have an XP disk so tried Ubuntu.
Never really looked back. Seems to get better with each release.

In work we're kinda tied to XP still.

lol If I had to use dos dave I wouldn't own a computer and would be using the telephone and snailmail for everything!
I started late in life with XP, but if dos was a sandwich I would starve to death! :o

That's why we have these all encompassing OS's, so that the average user doesn't need to go down that complicated path.
Trapped by MS, but functional in our ignorance! ;)

most MS OS run on DOS so to be technical your xp is dos and i started with it along with a dot matrix printer and a 5 inch floppy drive lol

and if dos was a sandwich I would starve to death thats funny cos DOS is a thing that could cure death well the blue screen type lol
