LG Super Blu BH200
Bizarrely held off from launch at IFA, LG's second-generation multi-format HD-DVD and Blu-ray BH200 Super Blu player has been launched.
Big kudos was awarded to LG for its initial and at the time groundbreaking decision to offer consumers a simple answer to the format war issues in the shape of the Super Multi Blue BH100 player. But it was beset with problems in terms of its very limited HD-DVD playback and wallet-shrinking price.
The BH200 looks to improve on these issues. It too plays both HD-DVD and Blu-ray as well as upscaling old-school DVDs, while BD-Java and HDi support have been incorporated to support the interactive elements of each format and eliminate those issues the BH100 had with HD-DVD. Sporting HDMI 1.3 connectivity, the BH200 supports 1080p playback at 60Hz with next gen audio formats like Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD on board. An LAN Ethernet port rounds things out.
