Folks!!

My DM600C is in the post; to be delivered by Friday (14/9). Yehay!! Yesssssssss!!

I've worked with Dbox2's before & I've gone through the guides for DM500 - I can pretty much "theoretically" flash a DM500 with ease.

I've also downloaded a few DM600 images/image backups and tools like flashwizardpro/DreamUp from the downloads section. There's not many guides/images for the DM600C, to be honest... and hardly any of the existing ones specify if they are for Sat or Cable.

So, being in unchartered territory, I'm riddled with a few questions:

Q: Is the DM600 just an upgrade from DM500 (addition of PVR, better tuner, etc) or a completely different beast?
Q: Can the exact steps to flash a DM500 be followed in order to flash a DM600?
Q: Can the same tools used to flash a DM500 be used to flash a DM600?
Q: Can a backup/image for the DM600S be used for DM600C (& vise versa)?
Q: Are there any specifics for the Cable version that I need to be aware of?

Q: Is the DM600 just an upgrade from DM500 (addition of PVR, better tuner, etc) or a completely different beast? = I believe an upgrade.

Q: Can the exact steps to flash a DM500 be followed in order to flash a DM600? = Yes

Q: Can the same tools used to flash a DM500 be used to flash a DM600? = Yes

Q: Can a backup/image for the DM600S be used for DM600C (& vise versa)? Not sure, maybe.

Q: Are there any specifics for the Cable version that I need to be aware of?[/QUOTE] Must have cable keys & roms.

I'm using mrdudes noob image v1.02. I may be able to upload it here this evening. All you need to do is flash the image & scan.

That would be just smashing!! I'll keep an eye out for your post in the downloadz section.

I liked MrDudes DM600PVR guide too. But he's not made any distinctions between the cable & sat versions. One gets the impression that they work interchangeably. Not being an expert myself, it raises more doubts than anything else ;p.

He has both but when he made the guide he only had a 600c box.

Cheers dude. If its your own backup, then yes please. And, if you didn't want to post the complete image in here, then just please PM me, no probs.

I got a noob image off DWz yesterday though... not sure if its the same as the one you referred to. Obviously, I have yet to try it... hoping to get the box today/tomm. Will keep you folks posted.

Man... am I excited or am I excited?? Suffice to say, I'm excited ;p.

Good old Nottingham ;p ! If yours is the same as the other noob image, then I'm assuming that after loading the one I have, I'll just need to do a search.

I think the keys etc are already in that image. Plus the evocamd is enabled... unless I'm mistaken.

totalay different more memory hard drive and diferrent types of images

Q: Can the exact steps to flash a DM500 be followed in order to flash a DM600?

almost the same yes cant use flashwizzard pro but u can use the new version of dreamup tick use network and itl flash in two min
or u can flash via telnet and then use the web interface to flash again takes two min

Q: Can a backup/image for the DM600S be used for DM600C (& vise versa)?

yes theres no difference in a s or c image other than upon boot up it loads either cable driver or sat driver
dm500 images will NOT work on a dm600

Most definitely indeed !!

My dbox2 didnt get as many channels... so I'm loving it !

My next task is to lock all adult channels & arrange stuff into bouquets. Probably a lengthy, but easy task ;p.

I'm using the Noob image at the moment... did anybody notice that the image isn't as clear/good as the V++ or the others on the dbox2. I've tried the 600 on both my 32" and 50" lcds in different rooms...

Has anybody tried multiple images? Which do you folks think is the best so far... in clarity, that is.

upto now I tried the Gemini image and was well impressed, but I seemed to have issues with recording and playback, no now and next, and the web interface was basic. so now I'm trying the PLi image, dosnt have the range of plugins of the Gemini but is more suitable for me. its like all things, you need to try a few to find something that you like. oh and the PLi image has now and next on the info bar..so thats a bonus, but I did have to adjust my remote control settings, it seemed to skip about, the web interface is a big plus for this image

Tryed a lot built from the 1st cvs PLi Gemini Nabo all looked the same pic quailty. The 2nd cvs ones are a lot better PLi for the now and next but running the Gemini 3.6 at the min but Enigma2 DM600PVR by pcd has just come out so i think that will be going on my box soon. I will let you know if its any good.

That is definitely a neat idea.

Perhaps, in the downloads section wherein we upload the images, why not put in a kind of a rating section wherein those who've used it can give it a rating out of 10.
