I just got one yesterday and it does not seem to be the most user friendly as the manual is pretty rubbish.

So far i ahve managed to get the barcode reader to work and also to listen to bbc radio station through wifi.

What has everyone else got to work

gps radio is a good novelty - although time to first fix is often between 3 and 5 minutes. A real shame as your only gonna want to use it when you immediately need it, just when 5 minutes feels like a lifetime. The associated s/w can either use an inet connection or work with d'loaded maps. Good around UK, Germany, France and NewYork. No idea for other regions. 'Find nearest' is a bit pants. Seems to have an obsession with KFC, which arguably should not qualify for listing within the restaurant seciton.

Is not shipped with a flash memory card (takes MicroSD) although i recall something like 140MB of internal flash being available when I got one, so it's not all that bad.
802.11 radio seems to work just fine.

Is good that switching between GSM & 3G does not require a reboot.

PDF, power point and realmedia apps seem to work ok.

3.5mm jack on phone with supplied cable to bring this to composite video, r & l audio. Works fine in image render (from gallery, pictures taken). Also played out a non transcoded south park ep i loaded onto a microSD card. Just a regular ep of 35MB or their abouts.

Web browser is more reliable and results in fewer reboots than n80.

Cam is ok but no substitute for a regular digi point and shoot.

On the whole, good toy. If you have a Nokia thing going on this is worth grabbing.

Dude, I'll go hunting! Any idea on what speeds up the time to first fix on gps?
Anyone know about the whole Route66 situation in terms of signed / unsigned code etc. Everything i've read suggests this has to be signed to work, signed against imei.

after thats done close NSS and open nokia software updater
keep clicking next etc until it finds your phone and voila a new update is found.
let the nokia software do its job and you then should have a debranded UK version of the N95 with all features that should be there.
here are a few updates someone noticed:
Quote:
Faster and more responsive
Nice new theme
Colours are now much better in photo's and its got slighlty less noise reduction although its still to much imo.
Wifi works slightly better and gets a better signal.
auto locks keypad
GPS got a lock quicker than before although its still best to be still.
there should be some more things but its too early to tell.
Remember to have a fully charged battery on the phone, make sure your pc doesnt crash, make sure you take the memory card out, make sure the USB cable stays in the PC and your phone, disable your antivirus etc, dont use your pc etc
Please note that this may void your warranty and i am not responsible if you mess it up, you do so at your own risk
lol well thats my tutorial on how to upgrade your N95
remember to restore your back up after that and enjoy your updated phone
if after you restore your phone you get phone startup failed contact retailer all you gotta do is switch the phone off and then press 3, *, and the green call key and while having these pressed switch the phone on at the same time.
let go and your phone should start up normal but your backup will be deleted. when you restore your backup again make sure you only restore the messages, contacts and calender entries as i think the settings cause the phone to fail.
This is not my work & has been taken from another site. Upgrade the firmware at your risk!

Just found this looking around about the n95

Nokia admitted the fact that their N95 phone (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#) model could have used some upgrades (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#) and improvements in certain areas and started work on them. Their Firmware 12.0.013 Upgrade has just been released, bringing solutions to a large number of problems.

The change log has also sprung out along with the release of the Firmware 12.0.013 Upgrade application. The impressive thing about it is

definitely its huge size. It looks like Nokia has released a phone with a considerable number of errors. Beyond this fact, their struggle to solve as many as possible comes as excellent news for Nokia N95 (http://news.softpedia.com/news/8GB-Nokia-N95-On-Its-Way-59410.shtml) phone owners.

The upgrade package also includes some new features, such as A-GPS (http://news.softpedia.com/news/New-A-GPS-Service-from-Nokia-60361.shtml) and HSDPA indicator, both free services coming from Nokia. Other general improvements include more than 30 changes. Among them, some important ones are also included. Nokia has upgraded many WLAN performances, memory card (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#) corrections and the voice mail number now correctly reads from the SIM card (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#).

The browser has also received several improvements to file upload, HSDPA (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#) throughput and stability issues too. The media player and gallery have also been upgraded in order to better respond to the user's media entertainment needs. They now provide more reliable handling solutions for media files than in the past.

The messaging (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#) service has brought improvements in messaging application, email (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Huge-Change-Log-for-Nokia-N95-Firmware-12-0-013-Upgrade-60638.shtml#) handling and email sync as well as correction to MMS sending during VT call. The camera also has benefited from upgrades, as the Sharpness value is no longer changed along with the camera scene mode.

Other improvements make the MT video call show correctly on UI and also bring map upgrades in the navigation system. Moreover, WLAN APN has been removed from AGPS positioning server settings. All in all, more than 70 upgrades have been included in the Firmware 12.0.013 Upgrade for Nokia (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Vodafone-Withdraws-Nokia-N76-60586.shtml) N95 handset.
