if it's for your mam scott m8 i'd recommend getting her a Technomate1500 as these are by far the easiest to use and most supported.

i got mine from these and can highly recommend m8

eBay.co.uk: FREE CARD WITH TECHNOMATE 1500 CI FULL MOTORISED SYSTEM (item 250112663786 end time 18-May-07 01:01:24 BST) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FREE-CARD-WITH-TECHNOMATE-1500-CI-FULL-MOTORISED-SYSTEM_W0QQitemZ250112663786QQihZ015QQcategoryZ969 70QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

no probs scott m8.

4got to mention m8 is it just for european satellite? or are u interested in joining a c/s for a certain uk provider? if the latter option you'll need a linux based reciever such as a dreambox or TM9100 m8 if not defo get a TM1500

they are crap m8 and not worth getting from there. i remember they are 'silvercrest' from aldi which is a cheap chinese make with hardly any support available, dont support diseqc and no cam or card slots and no options to input keys in via the remote so you wouldnt be able to recieve the like of D+ or premiere packages(the best 2 packages available in my eyes);)

Hi,i am also thinking of getting my first satellite system and was just wondering if the technomate 1600 has any better advantages over the 1500 for what i would be needing to do ?.Any advice greatly appreciated.

the only real difference is that the 1600 has 2 cam slots and no multicrypt reader whereas the 1500 has 1 cam slot and 1 multicrypt card reader,so for that option i'd rather go for the 1500,but it's all personal choice really.

but if you do get 1500 make sure it's got CI+super on the end of it (TM1500CI+Super) as this version has a fast blind scan;)
