Rangers fans 'would like Healy'

David Healy has been watched by Rangers manager Walter Smith
Northern Ireland's record goalscorer David Healy would be a good signing for Rangers, a fans' spokesman has said.

Rangers manager Walter Smith was at Windsor Park on Wednesday to see the 27-year-old Leeds striker score a double in the 2-1 win over Sweden.

"I think Rangers fans would be enamoured by the prospect of signing Healy," said John MacMillan, secretary of the Rangers Supporters Association.

"He has a great record at international level and we need new strikers."

Healy's goals took his international goalscoring tally to an impressive 29 in 56 games although he has scored only eight times this season for the Elland Road club.

Rangers have not confirmed Smith was there to check on Healy, but he will have been impressed by a player currently playing club football in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Healy would do better in the SPL than he does in England "not that he plays bad when he gets on", and I would love to see him playing for the Gers.
