Could be a number of things in fact nothing may show up in the event manager if its a hardware issue

Have you already installed the graphics driver because it could be the wrong one that causes it to pause and you will need to uninstall it in safe mode.

Have you done any hardware modifications? before the problem started i.e. ram upgrade?

Possible reasons for lockup's

1. Check for recently installed software or hardware.
2. Run your antivirus program.
3. Run some good spyware removal tool.
4. Check for free hard drive space.
5. Check for overheating.
6. Check the hard disk.
7. Check the memory.

no,it just froze graphic card is up to date

That could be the problem you might have the wrong driver installed or the newest driver might be conflicting with the card try and get an older driver.

I've had a similar problem with a computer that I sold to someone on the internet. It's an Athlon XP machine, which suffered an inexplicable manner of damage in the post, but once I'd sent the buyer some replacement hardware, he was competent enough to get it working again.

Almost...

The original Athlon XP 3000+ was damaged beyond repair; the closest thing I could get to a replacement was an Athlon XP 2600+ (2083MHz = 12.5 x 166) that I bought second-hand without knowing its history or having the means to test it. It almost worked: it booted to Windows 2000 without problems, but when running Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. it would always cause the computer to freeze at exactly the same point.

It would sometimes freeze when running the exact same test at 2000MHz = 12.0 x 166, and rarely freeze at 1917 MHz = 11.5 x 166. (As luck would have it, this particular CPU has an unlocked multiplier.)

Now the important bit: the BIOS allows the motherboard frequency to be adjusted in 1MHz increments. By repeating these tests over a range of CPU multiplier settings, with the motherboard running at 175MHz, and again at 185MHz, the buyer showed that the freezes only occurred to a significant extent when the CPU speed was around 2000MHz or more, irrespective of the motherboard speed.

I don't know whether the previous owner damaged the CPU by overclocking it too hard, or if I've mistakenly sent out a Sempron 2600+ (designed to run at 1833MHz = 11.0 x 166) instead of an Athlon XP 2600+, but this method enabled the buyer to diagnose the fault, and stopped me having to send out replacement hardware based purely on guesswork.
