im afraid i have to disagree with you there m8 the only booster i have ever been able to get working with a dbox is the one from argos as this is capable of boosting digital signals whrereas the normal booster are usualay only good enoungh for bbc1 bbc2 itv channel4 and five

Argos 4 way booster works bigtime. Rooms without booster wont pick up discovery chans on the dbox2. Popped on the booster and wola , all nice and dandy . Best money spent recently

Does anyone know the frequency range covered by these boosters?

Do they cover the 47MHZ-862MHz range ?

length of aerial cable has an effect on signal,,,the shorter the better. Mikomi ca-01 booster from argos works for me.

I am told that the connectors usually called splitters as provided by NThell are actually atenuaters? If there is numbers on them ie, -3, -6 etc they cut down the strength of the signal received from the street box so that everyone gets the same signal strength. I recently fitted an aftermarket 4 way "splitter" which has 6.2 on it so twice the signal restriction of the original NTHell ones. My Replay box has on occasion reported no signal recently on some channels, though it gets it back after a time usually. Could this be the cause? If it is could I use a signal booster after the splitter to improve this, or should it be put in before the "splitter"? Thanks.

you can get a 3db one this will improve the signal
Yes put the booster after the splitter to your box.

Just seen that Argus are now offering the signal boosters at discu]ounted prices; £7.99 for the 4 way splitter/amp. I think I'll get one and try it out, and will post any relevant comments.

Best wishes to all

HELP!!

I have just fitted a mikomi ca-01 argos booster and couldnt get anything but without it the signal is good. Why is this and what is the screw on the top of it for?

plasterer
26-02-2007, 11:58 PM
The screw on the top is a varible gain ajuster , by altering this you can make your signal higher or lower . If you trid this and lost channels lower the gain and they will come back' This item is a godsend for some problem boxes .But the booster wont improve the quality of the picture Hope this helps ..........Paul

my picture is ok its just that some channels are jumpy and the ber reads high, i dont think its the tuner because the other channels work fine.

So its not a major problem but I just cant get a picture throught the booster.
