I have a version of windows xp profesional + sp2 corp edition.
It installs lovely but with one prob, each time i boot it up or install a new program i get a box come up saying "Windows file protection" it asks you to put in your windows xp service pack 2 disc in and putting in my disc doesn't get rid of it. I can cancell it and carry on using the file versions i have got but would like to get rid alltogether any ideas?

it will be a faulty/wrong .DLL file i would guess then if you dont want to disable the warnings ever coming back. might be a long winded process though. correction might not be the ans, it is certainly not hurting you, but however.
have you looked in events manager to see what event this error is throwing up??

try running the system file checker with xp disk in the drive...
this can usually detect and replace corrupt files...
start - run - type sfc.exe /scannow

this process may take some time so be patient..

let us know how you get on....

If you have just installed this windows pro corperate and you downloaded it from the internet I would say that there is errors on the disc. If you dont want to disable the wfp then I would say your better of getting your hands on a different xp disc and installing it properly this time because this might not be the only problem you get. Try using a better quality disc the next time and not a rw disc.

Windows File Protection (WFP), a sub-system included in Microsoft Windows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows) operating systems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system) of the Windows 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_2000) and Windows XP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP) era, aims to prevent programs from replacing critical Windows system files (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_file). Protecting core system files mitigates problems such as DLL hell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DLL_hell) with programs and the operating system. Windows 2000, Windows XP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP) and Windows Server 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2003) include WFP under the name of Windows File Protection; Windows Me (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Me) includes it as System File Protection.
