Sounds like your trying to make a DVD then and .avi isn't the correct format: If your using Nero 7 however it can convert it

And if you want to burn the .avi as an avi file then pick CD on nero then CD-ROM(ISO) then new

If you have a divx dvd player then you will be able to burn a few films onto 1 dvd just choose make data dvd in nero startsmart, if you dont have a divx dvd player and you download a lot of films you should get one for about ?30 you will save a lot of time and you will save money on buying dvds all the time.

I can get around 6 movies on one DVD but not all drives these players come with will pick them up. The last one I had would only pick up 3 or 4

I have a pioneer divx dvd player and it plays nearly all of them, I have well over 1000 films and think that about 20 avi's havent worked on it.

Yes but some models don't pick them all up I only know because I've had the same problem even my xbox wont pick up more than 3 or 4 movies on DVD

Nero is your best option - NeroVision which converts nearly all video formats to DVD you can also add a menu etc. It takes around the time of the film + 20 minutes to complete

Your right divx is up to v.6 and some of the divx dvd players only go up to v.5.

Try Clone DVD....works well for me, can copy dvds to various formats and handheld devices

If the divx movies are 700mb each then you can fit roughly 6 per blank single sided dvd. Try to get dvd-r's as that will have most compatibility with stand alone divx players.
If converting from avi/mpg then make sure the files are placed in the video_ts folder. The audio_ts folder is always empty. Winavi is by far the fastest converter and can do a 700mb avi in 35 mins or faster depending on cpu etc.

DivX DVD players are really cheap - around 20-25 quid fro most computer fairs. Saves re-encoding them but I still do as me dad has not got one so they still have to be DVDs. I use TMPGEnc - its slow if you dont have a fast computer but the results are great. Problem you have is that will only give you a MPEG file so you still need a DVD author tool.

I used to use TMPGEnc to but takes far longer than any of the other program I use either nero or winavi now and still use TMPGEnc dvd author to put a proper menu on the dvd because the dvd author dosent take long.

If you already have Nero on your computer and try this programme ConvertXToDVD works every time. converts and burns or WINDVD is a little bit slower but never fails Hope this helps Best of luck
