please help advise have had to reinstall windows after formatting hard drive.
but now havn't got any windows security centre or windows firewall in control panel!!!! ANY IDEAS ... tryied re install but no different...

Try going into Administrative Tools & services and then making sure there running

Not sure on that one but go to the windows update and see what that gives you I believe that pre sp2 versions of xp didnt have security centre so if u update to sp2 you should get security centre.

ok m8 thanks looked and not in there running firewall/ security centre..

Something has gone wrong with the install then so either reinstall or try start run "sfc /scannow" you may need the windows cd

have just tried that ship but flashes up black box so quick i can't read it. will try updating to sp2 i think see if that helps.

I have an old copy of windows xp and it dosent have service pack 2 on it and when I update on the microsoft website it puts security center on when I reboot after installing service pack 2.

Yes you are correct ship
SP2 gives the extra windows security centre feature.
