Ive used both BT and Cable for my connection. BT were pretty fair about the usage policy but watch the amount of traffic. I got a wee warning email for downloading 40 GB in a month other than that they were fine. Now got 10MB cable and its the dogs....

I dont think NTL slow your speed down, I used to download at about 10gb to 15gb a day and never heard anything from them.

I personally use Sky Broadband. ?10pm with no cap, upto 16Mb broadband depending how far from the exchange you are. No P2P speed caps either. They do have cheaper offers, ?10, ?5 and even free per month but each has a download cap, the free one being a measly 2Gb. For ?10pm I'm delighted! And I was with Pipex prior to my move to Sky in October, they were dreadful!

I believe it happens in some areas when the network can't cope

Nthell used to slow down at about 6pm here about 6 months ago from to much traffic. They must have change something because its been fine now for about the past 6 months, fingers crossed.

I use TW as well and - while it is supposed to be capped - they've never been on at me about the amount I D/L myself.

when i was on telewest i never ever had any problems nor caps, I with ntl now but have a bit of a speed problem for a few months dunno it was wether due to network problems or me downloading much, i heard they move people that downloads much to certain ip addresses so i reduced my download rate and everything works seems as it should be
