i am with pipex homecall isp on a package with phone & 8meg internet for %u00A329.99 the problem i am having is that pipex have a fair usage poicy where they slow down my internet between 6pm & 11pm . It is quiet clear that they are closing ports some my download is dead slow between these times . I use utorrent to download i do change the port now & then but this does not help at all . is there any way in the utorrent i can get my download speed up at all ? or is there a software i can use to get better internet speed during these times ? any advice would be great as this is getting me down would never have went with them had i new this before hand many thanks ps or is there any other download software i can use that can overcome this problem ?

You could try BTHELPER from a torrent site, I use it and it helps increase d/l speeds.

As far as i know you cannot over ride there settings

i use to be with pipex for a while until they started traffic shaping. try azureus and enable transport encryption with rc4 in its settings( i think it was called rc4). it worked for me for a while!!
utorrent has transport encryption aswell. but maybe not as good as azureus




......... eventually i changed isp mainly due to this.

Thanks for all the above advice went & got BTHELPER its brill 153 kb/s per second download thanks a lot fuxxxing pipex dont tell you all about capping when you signup with them mind you cant trust any isp theses days thanks again

spoke too soon i am getting 153kb download coss it has 140 seeders stil slow when pipex capp me between 6pm & 11pm will try asura program

I tried that BThelper thing and it wont get you any faster speeds if your speed is capped, if you are using a torrent client just change a few of the settings like slow the upload speed and you should get a quicker download speeds.

just seen this post tomboy1 and sorry to say i just cant find anything to increase my download speeds short of paying for a different newserver if im using news groups

Simply just phone them up and saying your moving to bt or someone if you still get rubbish download speeds
