need more info to help
could be 1001 things causing it.
note down the numer on the blue screen of death and either post it here or type it in a search engine.that should give you some pointers.

If your pc is a dell go to their online chat and tell them that you tried their built in system restore and it didnt work and they should send you out all the restore cd's and a windows xp cd for free =P~

not all pc's come with restore discs. they often have a special restore partition that can be accessed by pressing either F10 or F11 during the BIOS screen (probably a logo of your PC manufacturer)

my advice is remove all unnecessary peripherals and see what happens - esp usb bits.

I doubt a restore disc would help anyway if its blue screening then its more likely to be a hardware issue

Your right I read it wrong, just seen him saying he dosent have restore discs. In some motherboards you have to fill the memory in a certain order "normally blue slots 1st" so just try putting the memory in different orders. Why did you have to take one of the memory sticks out did something else happen to the computer this might explain?

mostly you will fid that the blue screen is due to memory faulty or in wrong slot try changeing the slot first if same then try new memory and restore hopfully this should sort it out.

depending on what the error reads it could be one of the following

if you get this error DIVIDE_BY_ZERO_ERROR it's an application thats causing the problem

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED is a device driver badly configured

REGISTRY_ERROR as it says

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE problem with the hard drive or a virus has destroyed the boot sector (won't be this if you can log onto the pc)

NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM hard disk corruption

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP is the memory

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR could be a number of thing, bad memory, a bad processor or a currpt pagefile.sys

there are also many other blue screens but these are the main xp ones, might also get a few from dells own driver base but them you'd have to look up yourself

blue screen error are mostly due to memory problems, but your windows might be causing the error too.

No m8 you shouldnt just try sticking the memory in different slots to see if one of them will work.

If you didnt set up a password and its your computer then just hit enter or ok when it asks you for one, if you didnt make a password there wont be one.
