am gonna re-format my puter just got a 380 gig external hard drive and have been putting stuff on it and nearly finished ,now i want my emails to be kept whats the best way to do it ?do i send them to another email addy ?or can i do something else ?also would like to keep all my addys to ?how do i go about it the best way

there are plenty of free utilities that will back up oe on the net.

else, you can do it yourself.
just copy the identity folder completely to your removeable.

then when you get it all running
create a new user of the same name
then copy the folders back to the same place.

there are plenty of guides to this also
just type in something like 'backup OE6 emails'

the address book will be a *.WAB file
just copy that around whereever in/out

Depends what you use for your mail mate, outlook and outlook express give you the option to export all your mail, addy book and stuff to a folder, then just import them again wen u need them

one of the reasons I dont use Outlook is the way is stores messages and when you have to re-do your machine its a nightmare to find the location.

I use Eudora, excellent and you can point your mail data to an external stroage (I used a small NAS drive) - thus when I re do my machine I dont have to worry about backing up the mail data - re install Eudora and point to the mail data folder and all pop/smtp/username etc settings restored.
