We?ve spent years waiting for Gran Turismo games in the past, but it sounds like GT7 will arrive next year according to the game?s developer.

CEO of Polyphony Digital Kazunori Yamauchi says the aim is to release the game before 2017, as he explained in an interview with Italian site SpazioGames. Naturally, it?ll be a PS4 release.

Gran Turismo 7 was known to be in development as far back as 2013, the year in which GT6 was released, but with every rumour the release date slipped back that bit more. However, Yamauchi says that 2017 would be too late, that people ?will not wait so much? for the game.

Features expected for the next entry in the series include better crash physics, a weak point of the last two games, while earlier rumours suggest Polyphony may even add motorbikes. Given how much work car physics alone poses, this seems a mite ambitious, though.

Heating up the rumours even more, Croatian retail site Sancta Domenica just put up a pre-order page for something called Gran Turismo Sports, bearing a slightly dodgy-looking Gran Turismo 7 image. The page has since been taken down, but as it was listed at a pretty premium ?45-ish (449 Croatian kuna), we do have to wonder whether maybe the retailer knows something we don?t.

We?ll be on the hunt for more GT7 news over the coming week at E3 2015.
