When it comes to April Fools' jokes, Google has form. This year, it's pulled off one of its best hacks ? turning Google Maps into a giant game of Pac-Man!

Fire up Hidden Content on your mobile device or computer, and you'll see a Pac-Man icon in the bottom left corner. Click it, and the iconic games character will appear on-screen. It's your job to move him along the roads, gobbling up cherries and coins. But watch out for those pesky ghosts!

Google has given some suggestions as to the best places to play. If you can't figure out the clues ? and some of them are real headscratchers ? you can just start a game in your local neighbourhood.

Once you've started playing, using the direction keys on your keyboard to move Pac-Man. You get five lives. Done pretty well? Share your score with friends using the options.

Google's past April Fools' jokes include turning Google Maps into an 8-bit version, and releasing the entire YouTube back catalogue as a DVD boxset.
