A new report out of Taiwan claims that Apple will start mass producing the next generation iPhone in July.

The iPhone 6 may be in production this summer, according to sources in-the-know from Taiwan.

This report effectively bulldozes all previous rumors about Apple launching an iPhone over the summer. It was believed that the company will go back to announcing new iPhones at WWDC, but so far all signs point to a fall release, which has been the case for the past few years.

Though this particular report seems to imply that the two new iPhones expected to be released later this might not be released simultaneously. Last year was the first time that Apple launched two new iPhone models together. The iPhone 6 is believed to have a 4.7-inch display and is expected to go in production this July. The other iPhone, presumably with a 5.5-inch display, isn?t expected to go into production until fall according to the report. If this is to be believed, there?s no way that both new iPhones can be launched together later this year.

Though its also interesting to note that the report claims both iPhones will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. What would Apple stand to gain if it puts in a month or two worth?s gap between two of the most highly anticipated smartphones for iPhone fans? Could Apple split its strategy and target certain markets with a particular model? The possibility also exists that both may be launched at the same time, but one might be exclusive to certain markets at launch. We?ll certainly have to wait until fall to get the answers to these questions.

All of Apple?s main rivals have already moved up to 5-inch displays, some have even gone beyond that. A number of recent surveys show that customers want larger displays, and this may ultimately compel Apple to finally increase the display size on the iPhone.
