Microsoft has added the option to cache music locally in an update to Xbox Music for iOS.

xbox music ios offline playback Xbox Music for iOS updated with offline playback support

Xbox Music was launched on iOS (and Android) back in September last year, and its inability to let users store music for offline playback was arguably its biggest disadvantage compared to more mature app offerings from competing music streaming services. Microsoft has taken care of that in the first update to the app, which should be a boon for those that often find themselves without an internet connection or just don?t want to depend on the cloud even when they?re connected.

The Android version of the app should receive offline playback in the near future, though for now it?s an iOS-only feature. The update doesn?t offer any other features or improvements, though given the usefulness of the one feature it does include, users will likely be willing to forgive Microsoft for the short changelog.
