just depends on the amount of stuff you want to record. You can also put music and video files on your ex hdd and play them thro the Blade via the menus.Hope this helps.

Not heard of that before mate.I don't know if this will help,it resets your box and then you need to reinstall firmware.

MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR CLINE OR NEWCAMB FILE TO A MEMORY STICK BEFORE YOU START.
Menu-Utilities-Download,you can then save key(c-line etc),save stb(firmware)and or save ndf(Chanel list) before you reset box.

Excellent thread for someone new to this box. I understand I need a providers details for the cline (key) for an annual cost. Does this mean the provider will send me this file yearly as long as they receive the fee which I will have to upload to box.

You will be required to pay an annual fee up front for the c-line.Try and make sure you get a reliable supplier through a mate or someone you know as it can be very costly.Get them to send you a 24 hour test c-line or newcamd which you add to a csinfo available in downloads(Blade) section.Put on usb stick, plug into back of box, press menu on remote > utilities v download.Box will read stick, highlight csinfo file and it will write it to box(provided you have the patched firmware).Givin time to connect to your supplier it should work.If your happy to go ahead you need to contact them and sort out a fee.

The cline you buy at the very start will do you every year provided you stay with the same supplier and pay him every year when it's due.Otherwise your supply will stop.
