HMV in administration
Like Virgin before it, surely it is just a matter of time now before there is a closing down sale. Of course the cynic in me thinks that a sale at HMV will just mean that things are being sold at a sensible price. I never quite understood who would shop there any more? I just hope that the 4000 folks most affected come out of it alright.

Does this mean that they will be a huge sale on any time soon? And if yes when do you think this will happen and for how long?

Re: Board Of HMV Calls In Administrators
Their sales were always good, and to be fair in the last year or so they had started selling things at prices that competed with the net.
But I think they probably had taken on too many sites to stay in the black - this seems to be a trap a lot of bricks and mortar traders fall into, open lots of shops because they get offered a free rent period to entice them in then keep an unprofitable site open when they start getting charged.
It will be a shame to see them go, as I can't really think what else on high st / shopping centre will replace them.

HMV had it coming. They've been ripping people off for years now with no repercussion. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Re: Board Of HMV Calls In Administrators
I think the demise of HMV is sad for the High Street. Why? Because without HMV or Blockbusters, GAME are going to run wild with High Street game pricing. Before they would kinda check out what their competitiors were selling games for and match them - now they can do what they like if they're the only shop that sells games in a town. Sad times.
