any1 know how to reset engine management light on renault megane
You need a special obd2 code reader to reset it properly as the light only comes on if there is a fault.but sometimes taking the negative battery terminal off for about half hour can reset it but if you do this you must remember your radio code if it has one because that will be reset and need programming again and also if the light is reset and picks a fault up it will come back on. hope this helps
The easiest way is to use an obd scanner these can be bought cheap from halfords or similar outlets u just connect it to the obd port on youre car these are usually situated near the fuse box on the interior but are more common in the panel on the passenger footwell or just below the steering wheel on the left they are usually covered with an oblong shaped flap and the port looks similar to a scart lead connector,if you cant get hold of a scanner you can on some veihcles reset it by removing the managment fuse from the fuse box situated under the bonnet the fuses are usually 5amp and when removed for 15 mins if you first turn youre ignition on so dash lights are alluminated then back of refit the fuse and turn on again leave on for cpl minutes before starting the engine this can reset youre managment computer but its only a temp fix because as soon as it detects the problem the light will come back on so for around 30 quid buy a scanner and read the problem code then reset
you can buy a wifi obd reader from flebay or the like and use it with an iphone or android. Apps like torque on android or palmer performance on iphone connect to the wifi reader and read codes, but they are generic, and will not always show the exact fault, but can clear them. They are about ?10, so worthwhile to try
