Comodo Internet Security
ok so i had a look on this site to see if i could find it any were so if it is im sorry for re-posting.
my query is its free and at first glance you get a lot with it ie fire wall Av anti spam sand box ect ect and if you know what you are doing you can stop alot of the false positives from popping up BUT
is it actually any good when compared to the other free internet programs and dose anyone gave any experiences with the program. i did the test witch is on here paste X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* into note pad and save and it quarantined it striate away but im still not sure what to think and would value your opinions.
comodo can be found here Hidden Content
thanks Dave
ps sorry for the bad spellings.

Re: Comodo Internet Security
I have now been using MSE for a couple of years now, with no problems at all.
There are several advantages to it, including it being free to install, not being time limited ie needing to pay a yearly subscription for the new version and it updates regularly to adapt to new viruses found in the wild. It doesn't usually give false positives on downloads either.
Once you have set it up to your liking, which is quite easy, I can see no need to install anything else?
Another advantage is that there are no limits on how many machines you can use it on either.
I hope that helps m8 because at least it costs nothing to try, before you pay out for a commercial program.

Re: Comodo Internet Security
comodo is free as well and to as many computers as you like Hidden Content
Comodo Internet Security is the free, multi-layered security application that keeps hackers out and personal information in.
Built from the ground upwards with your security in mind, Internet Security offers 360? protection by combining powerful Antivirus protection, an enterprise class packet filtering firewall, advanced host intrusion prevention and automatic sandboxing of unknown files.
Unlike the stripped down versions of commercial software that other software vendors offer for free, this is the full, completely functional version of the product
Internet Security Includes:
- Antivirus: Tracks down and destroy any existing malware hiding in a PC.
- Anti-Spyware: Detects spyware threats and destroys each infection.
- Anti-Rootkit: Scans, detects & removes rootkits on your computer.
- Bot Protection: Prevents malicious software turning your PC into a zombie.
- Defense+: Protects critical system files and blocks malware before it installs.
- Auto Sandbox Technology™: Runs unknown files in an isolated environment where they can cause no damage.
- Memory Firewall: Cutting-edge protection against sophisticated buffer overflow attacks.
- Anti-Malware Kills malicious processes before they can do harm

Re: Comodo Internet Security
comodo was exploited long ago
as with nortons
macafee
avg
and
nod32
the issue lies with 'update' of an old or previously installed / un-installed version of any of the above
just look for avg$ files/folders
if they exist, the trojan will deploy.
use:

Re: Comodo Internet Security
I've been a long time fan of comodo but every so often (more so recently) it seems to crash.
I've heard good things about MS essentials and will shortly be making the move myself.
I had not heard of issues with AVG. Been a big fan of that for a while although it did become resource hungry on one of the updates (seems to be sorted now).

Re: Comodo Internet Security
Yes it always comes down to personal choice, but also how you set up the program to work for you.
In MSE for instance you can set it up to ignore certain files during a scan, like if you have hacks and keygen's etc. stored in some files.
You can also choose which, if any, files you want to send to Microsoft for checking, which is an anonymous check with no comebacks on you if they don't like it!
At certain times it is a relief when it warns you about possible compromises to some downloads or files, because it proves its working properly. You should know what you have downloaded and usually if you can trust it to be safe, so MSE will give you the option of installing it or not.
Pretty versatile and not resource hungry for a free program?
