Time for me to leave Sky once again
After leaving sky 15 months ago, i got a letter asking me to come back for half price so i did, plus they changed one of my boxes for sky plus HD ....so i ended up with a sky+ and sky+ HD full package for ?46 a month
In july i got a letter saying that they were going to keep it at half price for another year ..... so i thought thats ok i will keep it going for another year
2 months ago i saw my price go up from ?46 to ?57 and then last week it went up to ?68 ......what a p*ss take i thought, so i rang then just to get some right smart azz lad on the other end saying that i could not leave for another 5 months and that i would have to keep paying the ?68 untill then.....
He was trying to say that i had updated my box again 7 months ago and that i had to stop with them for another 5 months, i had told him no one had been in our house or ordered a new box ....this went on for 20 mins untill i put the phone down on him.
I rang back a hour later and this time got a nice lady that said yes you can cancel and could not see anythink about having anythink adding to my system for over 12 months ....and she was sorry about me having been sent these half price letters, which should not of been sent to me Hidden Content
so dont think i will be going back this time ...half price or not.
SKY need to get there act together .............................

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
Sadly it often depends entirely on who you speak to as to how helpful they are.
In their favour, I got an email from them a couple of days ago saying they were freezing prices until at least October 2112 and they were adding at least 19 channels to my package for free.
When I checked my box I had many more than that as all the normal Discovery, Kids, music, lifestyle etc addon packages you used to pay for were now free, including the Sky Arts stations which often broadcast concerts. Hidden Content
I can't imagine Vermin doing that somehow! Hidden Content

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
I am not currently on any special offers from Sky and I don't subscribe to the sports or film channels.
That's what my VU duo is for! Hidden Content
Generally speaking I have had no problem with Sky's services and would not want to go back to Vermin at all, though if they doubled my price that would be a different matter entirely, but legally I don't see how they could.

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
I think that is true of most companies, had a very bad experience with Direct Line recently where one operator lied to me repeatedly and another could not understand what the issue had been.

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
Have to agree with the posts here, it varies so much nowaday's that when you deal with customer servies you either
a) get through to someone who knows what they're talking about or
B) get through to someone who couldn't give a monkey's behind about you and will lie through their front teeth,
Recent personal experience suggests that (a) is now few and far between whilst (b) has now become the norm for most companies, which is strange given the current economic climate you'd imagine many companies would bend over backwards to be "better than the rest."
Well thats my two cents...rant over! :{

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
All you need to do with Sky is keep cancelling, and they will keep offering it for half price. As long as you're willing to go a few weeks without it, and wait for them to ring up with the offer, all is well.
Don't think I've paid full price for Sky for about 5 years, isn't worth it, apart from Sport, but I'd rather be sat in the pub!

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
Someone I work with cancelled their Sky about 6 months ago, and now they have been offered 75% off for a year and ?50 towards their bills. Seems like a crazy offer, but only applies to her account which she can no longer use in her building. Is there definitely no hidden re-connection charge or anything because otherwise it seems like a great deal

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
I find it really frustrating when you the customer know more about their product than the customer services representative you are fighting with, like a lot of others have already stated it's luck as to who you get to speak to on the other end of the phone, Sky and Virgin seem to know that the customer has little choice between two vendors selling TV and BB services.
I would not still be with Virgin if it wasn't for the cable broadband, as if I went to sky I'd only get 1/2 a meg where I live on ADSL,
Sky are very good for the TV packages compared to Virgin
but both are robbing T.W.A.T*s and will try to stitch the customer up with extended contracts, read the small print carefully

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
Another leaflet come through the post this time with the 75% offer. Might have to consider it, and then just have Sky from August onwards (football season Hidden Content ) and then cancel again after a year...

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
I know that if you are in a cable area you have more bargaining power in negotiating a deal. Unfortunately I'm not.
I'm also aware that if you have the full package you can negotiate a good deal. Again I just have the basic.
The last time I tried to negotiate a deal I was offered lots of other bits and pieces such as telephone and broadband.
Anyone know if there is a good time to ring (beginning of the month end of the month etc)
or is it just a case of cancelling, sticking to it and let sky come to you?
I have been a loyal customer for many years but can't remember the last time I received an offer.

Re: Time for me to leave Sky once again
Sky is great when things are running smoothly, however I am in the middle of a big complaint with them about the full blown lies I have been told over their helplines. Speaks volumes when their customer services are as bad as they are - no chance of any goodwill from them in that department.
