Not really something I can answer to be honest, the receiver is a little to new with to few out there just yet to be able to get an idea from users, so I would say the best way of getting this information is to ask Protek/NanoXX themselves, they maybe have some idea.
All it's saying is it'll work with drives up to 4TB, it doesn't of course mean it has to be 4TB, anything up to and including this should work, it's an external USB drive it uses. I can confirm I've tried it with a 200GB Western Digital USB drive I have here and it works fine, but that's just one drive, it doesn't really give you a full indication.
I've just tried an old Lacie 250gb HHD connected to the Protek - Worked a dream !!!
