This might sound really dumb but I'm having problems with my sb4200. As a result im online using a dongle(vodafone). How do I find my ubr out for the virgin connection without actually being able to get online with it?

Do u not have a friend or know someone that is connected to the same hub as u ( the big green box in the street) as they will have the same ubr as u.

If they ask why you need to know this just bull**** and tell them you are trying to set up a new router or something and it needs this info to work but you cant get online to get it yourself, job done

    Re: checking your UBR

Thanks for that Magnu420, but on a previous thread

    here:Hidden Content

'thesparky' explains to 'Danny-D' that ubr is the 2nd part of the below and not the first part.
    cpcx-ruth7-x-x-custxxx.xx-x.cable.virginmedia.com

so "ruth7" is ubr and not the "cpcx"??

Very confusing! Hidden Content so which one is the correct ubr lads??!!

it sure can be confusing Hidden Content , it purely down to different area's

im in London so im **-***-**-***.cable.ubr10.dals.blueyonder.co.uk

so my ubr is 10.dals, so i would use 1.dals up to 9.dals as London will have 10 segments

go to Hidden Content and note your ubr, then go to your friends home, (hopefully about 4 miles away) and use the same link to find their ubr,
the slight difference in the address will be the ubr, commonly a number difference to identify the sector/segment

i hope this make its a little easier to understand? Hidden Content
