i think the scart socket labelled vcr is an input and not an output so you can play vcr through your dbox to your tv
Hi all,
I have a query- Ive just bought a sony dvd recorder with Hard disk, digital and analog tuners built in. I can record programmes manually quite happily or via timer if I leave the dbox on. It also has an option to record via series link and EPG/ Guide+ system. I know that the dbox's dont have talk back- but does the EPG /Guide+ system use this talkback functionality? The reason I ask is that when you try to setup the Guide+ it asks for your box type, provider, and postcode, and I don't want to give that info away...any ideas anyone?

Hi all,
I have a bit of a problem with my direct recording at the moment. Let me explain briefly my setup first. I have 2 dboxes - 1 sat with hdd, 1 cable without hdd - and I'm using the sat one to record all my stuff using direct recording on both boxes, the cable box is nfs mounted to the sat one.
Recording with the sat box is fine (Sporster pr 1.10) but recording with the cable box (Commando 9.25) is *always* stopping after 2GB (2147483647 exactly, taken from a ls on the box). Obviously, the first thing I checked was the max size in the direct recording settings (which was 4096) and doubled it to 8192 but that didn't change anything. Had a quick look at pt-1's guide and set spts mode to on and change my ucode to 14 - that didn't make any difference for my recording problem.
I had the same problem with my previous image before (I hoped that moving back to Commando will fix the problem!) - Hopefully I'm just over-looking something.
last bit of info, I think I formatted the disk xfs, I certainly do not have that problem with the sat box.
I tried to set up direct recording to a cifs mount using the Web Interface. It didn't work.
* The mount failed (with no error). I had to use telnet and mount manually, like this.
[root@comando:/]# mount -t cifs -o user=dbox2,unc=\\\\192.168.0.1\\dbox2,ip=192.168.0 .1 //192.168.0.1/dbox2 /mnt/samba
* The program seemed to be scheduled but did not record.
Am I missing something? Is the web interface read-only?
I am at work. I can use the web interface and the command line interface, but not the neutrino graphical user interface. The image is commando 9.25.
Here's the big fat nerd procedure I wrote for myself. Can you see any mistakes?
commando 9.25 - set up direct recording to a cifs mount using the Web Interface
The short version
A. Create a directory on your PC and mount it on the dbox2.
B. Change the Recording directory to match your new mounted directory.
C. Find a program to record.
D. Check your work.
The long version
A. Create a directory on your PC and mount it on the dbox2.
1 Create a folder on the PC.
2 Create the samba account "dbox2" on the PC. I did not bother setting a password.
3 open yWeb in a web browser (in my case this is Hidden Content )
4 navigate to Tools > Mounts. A "Mount" page appears. Mount 0 is selected.

What Program do i need to use in order to record from DBox2 to Windows Vista PC?
you shouldnt have to, the dbox has its own format that will record into 720 x 56x
Hi guys,
Interesting one for you....
I am recording via DirectRecord and have, using the many applicable posts in this forum, managed to record and play succesfully from a mounted drive.
I am using the Commando v9.25 image.
My issue is that, when I record a particular channel, the number of channels that I can view reduces considerably. In fact, through some observation, I have deduced that the only channels available are the channels that reside on the same transponder as the channel being recorded.
For Example, if I am recording Sky Sports, only the channels listed below will be viewable/selectable/present until I stop recording:
- <transponder id="0003" onid="a701" frequency="315000000" inversion="2" symbol_rate="6887000" fec_inner="9" modulation="3">
<channel service_id="012d" name="Sky Sports" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="012e" name="UKTV Bright Ideas" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="012f" name="Boomerang" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0130" name="Sky Sports News" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0131" name="Toonami" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0132" name="CNN" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0133" name="UKTV Gold" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0134" name="Cartoon Network" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0135" name="Hallmark" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0136" name="E!" service_type="01" />
<channel service_id="0139" name="RTE Radio 1" service_type="02" />
<channel service_id="013a" name="2FM" service_type="02" />
<channel service_id="013b" name="Lyric FM" service_type="02" />
<channel service_id="013c" name="R Na G" service_type="02" />
<channel service_id="013d" name="Today FM" service_type="02" />
<channel service_id="013e" name="Smooth FM" service_type="02" />
<channel service_id="013f" name="WRN" service_type="02" />
</transponder>
Has anyone experienced this before? If yes, any resolution tips?
Also, has anyone had any audio issues when streaming a DVD using vlc? When I stream a DVD the picture is fine but there is no sound.
thanks for finding these "old" news
Tuner = locking into 1x transponder ...
Old News for you = New News for me obviously. :-) Is there any way around this or will I always be limited to watching channels that reside on the same transponder as the channel being recorded? :-(
1 Tuner only in the Dbox so no this will not change.
I;m trying to record to my pc from Dbox, i'm using Winsever, i have set up all the settings and ip address, but when i hit record i get this error message.
"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Could not find file 'unknown'."
What does this mean ?
I'm using Visa Prem and ? Ugrab, it does work !! i get the recordings on my HD but i get that error message.
