What do you mean by "updated an image on my sagem box leaving all original excisting fles intact"
What do you get in the lcd when you power it up.

    Re: dead box

i used a ftp program to access the dbox and then backed up all the files
i then removed the image file only and replaced it with a new x1 sportster image (guided by a dbox for dummies guide) i then went in to the dbox software update section found the new image and flashed it without any error
the box immediately re booted then nothing, obviously i have done something wrong being a newbie.
i hope if i can get a null modem cable maybe i can at least get the ip address then restore and take it from there.

    thanks

Does the box boot ? Do you get any error messages ? Have you copied services.xml over ? could do with some more info.

    Re: dead box

Try downloading a program called network magic. The trial version will allow you to see anything connected to your PC and give the IP address of it. With this info at least you should be able to access the box.

    Re: dead box

Why not flash a different image using IFA, this way you don't need to know the ip address.

    Re: dead box

Try IFA as bobsylas as suggested
But if you are only getting a faint green glow on the lcd
Its suggesting to me that you have flashed choosing the option
write whole image or flashed with bootloader.
Which is in pt-1's help file under hardware dead dbox.

If you have a nullmodem cable try and see if it gives you a bootlog but i doubt it.

    Re: dead box

    update:
tried the network magic but couldn't find the box, the lcd screen was blank
before i started i left the box lying around for months before i attempted to fix it. as of yet i can't source a 9 pin null modem cable male to female
will have to order over the net then i will try IFA of which i only have a
    german version.
anyway i have dragged my sledgehammer out of the garage in anticipation.

thanks for the advice so far

    Re: dead box

    Thanks.
I guess I should have mentioned that I had checked the fuse in the plug, that's OK.
Where is the internal fuse, why would it blow and where do I get a replacement?

Click my signature and go to hardware then sagem power supply fault
Nokia's have the same fuse also seen as you have not mentioned what type of box you have.
    Farnells/maplins etc.

    Re: dead box

Does not look like its dead to me.
    unplug from power
Take the lid off and check the lcd ribbon has not worked loose
Set your pc network card to 10baseT_halfduplex
Give it a static ip of 192.168.1.201
    subnetmask 255.255.255.0
Turn off all firewalls and antivirus and try again.
    post what you get.
