    Re: The Cost Of Christmas

We're a family of 5 & our total bill for prezzies & food etc. will be ~?1K
?600 on the gifts for the kids [my wife & me don't give each other presents] & the rest on the food etc. - we'll have 12 for lunch on Christmas day so the food bill is quite high.

We used to spend much, much more than that until we realised one year that it's just as good - if not better - without spending so much.

hope you all have a good one

    Re: The Cost Of Christmas

I must have spent about 40 quid on christmas altogether. I dont drink at home anymore, so just some wine for my lady friend who stayed with me over xmas. We had plenty to eat including very nice dinners cooked by yours truly, listened to some cds, watched some telly and Dvd's, had a few snacks and chocolates and bits and had a very nice time together really. I bought her a small present which she really wanted and she bought me a small present I wanted, which we both opened together xmas morning.
It may sound a bit boring to some of you but we enjoyed each others company and had a nice quiet time but still had some laughs and enjoyed it.
There is no need to go into debt to show someone how you feel about them so no point in spending money we dont have to waste.
Call me scrooge if you like but we had a very nice xmas, without a hangover or bloating so we could'nt move and without having to worry about paying for it till next xmas. Thats worth its weight in gold. Hidden Content Hidden Content

However you spent Christmas I hope you all enjoyed it and are looking forward to a very happy and prosperous New Year.

    Re: The Cost Of Christmas

Knocking on ?1500 (not including the 42" Plasma bought as a family present)
Why do I fall for this every year.
Seems that xmas has lost its real meaning and is now an excuse to buy everything that you wouldnt get away with at any other time of the year.
Oh well time to go cut another pound of flesh off for the credit card company..see you later.

    Re: The Cost Of Christmas

it dont matter how much you spend ...if its for kids or wifes or girlfriends or boyfriends there all loved ones whom you think deserve something special at this time of year, i start in january and buy a little thing here and there and when we go on holiday we buy presents as well ,just think of it as a touch of kindness for everyone .

I love it, the modern spirit of christmas, everyone can have loads of joy and a great xmas, just so long as somebody else is paying :Hidden Content :. Maybe the name should be changed to shopping because the retailers get the best present, loads of trade to move all the crap they can't move the rest of the year.
We wish you a merry shopping and a credit card year. Has a sort of ring to it dont you think. Hidden Content Hidden Content

If I spent 5K once a decade would be too much. Sh1t I'd have to leave the country or die to collect the insurance money to pay it off. Hidden Content
