15-18w Antec irons work well, depends what you're doing though - smaller stuff wants a narrow tip & lower power whereas a big join needs more heat & larger tip.
I virtually swung on mine before I put the LCD up, I binned the bolts supplied & got some from B&Q which have a metal sleave which expands as you tighten it.

You need fairly recent hardware & quite a bit of it - less than 1Gb RAM gets a bit painfull & a fast disk makes a big difference. (That & CPU / GPU)
Sounds like a PE image - do a search for BartPE or Ultimate boot disk.
if you haven't already reboot it - when it detects a conflicting ip the card is effectively disabled. AD gets very fed up & looses contact with DNS etc.. which is critical for AD to work.
AV seems to be the biggest problem, some of the big vendors are really struggling to get it sorted in time.
