WELL i do belive im still here..... [ i think ] ....
Objectively speaking, it's certainly quite ill! :(
It is much more quiet than it used to be.
I think WOD was formed primarily as a technical site, but though it still fulfills that role, with the demise of the Dbox, many of the alternatives to that are either too complicated, or too expensive to buy into?
Especially if people fear that they will make a large payment for a box, which could have a relatively short shelf life, if satellite systems suddenly go the way of cable. That being said there are many other pieces of technology, from mobiles, to pc's and add on's, to televisions and home cinema systems, that we will continue to buy regardless, and it is always good to have a place where we can discuss the pro's and con's of the best and worst items on the market?
There have been additions to the site by mods and admin to try to offer things of interest to members on the site.
There is also a large variety of mobile phone and game console apps and discussions, as well as the cornerstone of this site, which has always been the availability of help to members in all fields of interest.
All things non technical can be discussed as well, along with the sharing of news and humorous articles. It seems that many members cannot be bothered to take part or discuss anything these days, they would much rather do something else, which doesn't talk back, or require using the brain at all?
That is bad for them and any forums in general.
To be perfectly honest happyfeet, you started this thread, so all I have posted here should really have been in your starter post, or something similar?
A one word question is hardly the basis of a discussion is it?
That is nothing personal against you happyfeet, it is just the way it is, as I see it!
When it comes down to it, any site lives or dies by the quality of it's membership?
If members don't post and take part in the life of the site, then membership and therefore the quantity of views and articles of interest will shrink.
Ultimately the members decide whether a site lives or dies by showing their interest in it, so as is usual with everything in life, they really miss it when it's gone!
I am an active member and post something almost every day. If other members did that, WOD would be a thriving site!
Be the change yourself that you want to see in the site. Post more and encourage others to do so as well.
Just viewing the site, but not posting, does not give other members anything to discuss!

Now there's an idea.
We already have an arcade, so maybe we should start a seafront section as well? :roflmao:
We can't be choosy who we draw back so long as they're "happy".
Never been so happy, now where was them seroxat pills :lol3:
Forum sites always have quiet periods especially in the summer months but if people just complain and refuse to post then it will die
True.Quote:
Forums in general are quiet, people now use social media to share information and ask questions, groups on Facebook is now very popular
Forums over the last few years have seen less members visiting and posting I have noticed across the board not just here
Speaking from experience from help run a forum, it's disheartening when you feel you put lots of effort in and see no response where it is so quiet
It's a shame to see but I can totally understand why the staff here are taking about it
Rat
Definitely agree that social media plays a big part in things, it’s such a shame as well and I love the camaraderie on forums.
Could a FB closed group not run concurrently with the forum, one updates the other sort of thing?Quote:
You need to explain that better for me to understand it lolQuote:
And me too please.Quote:
LOL Now I've read it back & neither do I....Quote:
You can have closed groups on facebook, invite only, wondered if posts on the forum could be linked to there or vice versa...My IT skills stretch to "turn it off, count to ten & turn back on" so almost an expert but not quite.
Video killed the radio star lol
Now that you’ve explained it ......... it’s still as clear as mud pmslQuote:
now your giving your age away old man pmslQuote:
